Get Free: Yoga as a Path to Anti-Racism with Chris Punongbayan

Yoga is not meant to be a passive practice. Rather, yoga and mindfulness are ancient ways of moving through the world that can support us in the march toward justice and equality today. Drawing on Christopher’s personal journey through the practice of yoga, this workshop guides participants to ignite their own potential to be the change they wish to see in society. Through movement, meditation, journaling, and discussion, we will explore ways to minimize the harms caused by racism and move ourselves and society towards true freedom for all.

In this workshop, you will learn how to:

  • cultivate skillful action through understanding the inherent nobility and non-separateness of all human beings
  • utilize the practice of mindfulness to disrupt reactivity and decrease unproductive thought patterns about race
  • utilize yoga postures and breathwork to create space for new ways of thinking and being
  • visualize the world we wish to inhabit in the future

Chris Punongbayan (RYT 500) is a yoga teacher and social justice advocate who is passionate about creating a more inclusive, liberated world by practicing the ancient teachings of yoga. This workshop is open to practitioners of all identities and levels of experience. Please bring a yoga mat and a journal or something to write with.
